(WWJ) -- Longtime Detroit radio and TV host Bob Allison has died.

His family says Allison, 87, died Wednesday afternoon. A cause of death was not released.

In August of 2019, Allison sat down with WWJ morning anchor Roberta Jasina to talk about his career in broadcasting as part of WWJ celebrating its upcoming 100 year anniversary.

Allison was the host of the popular radio show "Ask Your Neighbor," which began on WWJ in the 1960s. He also hosted Detroit's iconic 1970s TV show, "Bowling for Dollars."

Allison had not been on air for his show -- which now airs on AM WNZK 690 -- in a couple of weeks. Allison's family had recently moved him to a nursing home in Bloomfield Hills.

A spokesperson for the family says his son, Rob Allison, will host the show Thursday, running commercial-free.
