ANN ARBOR (WWJ/AP) - A 44-year-old man is facing charges after authorities say he sexually assaulted a child inside a secluded part of a Michigan middle school while the building was open for a meeting.

Johnathan James Green, of Ann Arbor, was arrested last week on charges including first-degree and second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor under 13, unlawful imprisonment and accosting a child for immoral purposes.

Police say Green allegedly went into Scarlett Middle School on September 9 and coerced the child to go to a secluded part of the school, which was open for the first Parent Teacher Organization meeting of the year.

Green doesn't appear to have any association with the school or the child, according to police. The incident remains under investigation.

The Ann Arbor school district notified parents and is cooperating with police.

Green remains jailed ahead of a probable cause hearing on September 19. A preliminary examination is set for Sept. 26.
