WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - Police are looking for tips to identify a man who was caught on camera in an attempted home invasion.

It happened at around 4:30 a.m. Sunday, August 4, in the 1000 block of Meadowlark Drive in Waterford Township.

The homeowner, police said, called 911 to report that someone was trying to break into his house.

The suspect was captured on a Ring doorbell camera as he tried to open up a window and a sliding door, only to find that both were locked. He then tried to open the front door before fleeing the area, police said.

The suspect is described as a white male with short hair and a neatly trimmed beard. He was wearing a blue polo shirt, khaki shorts, gold ring on his left hand and a tattoo on the left side of neck and left forearm.

As the investigation continues, police released the video in hopes that someone in the public might recognize the man.
