DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are asking for the public's help in locating a suspect wanted for the malicious destruction of property following an outburst at a liquor store on the city's east side last month.

Authorities say around 10:15 p.m. on Sept. 28, a man walked into the McDonald Drugs and Liquor Store -- located in the 16600 block of Harper Avenue, between Cadieux Road and Whittier Avenue -- carrying a brown paper bag concealing a bottle of liquor.

Police say the suspect walked up to the counter and spoke with an employee. After about seven minutes, the suspect took the bottle and hurled it across the store at a flat screen monitor, before leaving the location. Police did not say what the suspect and employee talked about or what led to him throwing the bottle at the monitor. There were at least seven people in the store at the time of the incident.

The suspect, described as a black male about 6-foot-1, 190 lbs. with long black hair in a ponytail, fled the scene in a blue Ford SUV. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans, dark colored shoes and black rimmed glasses.

Police released surveillance footage of the man throwing the liquor bottle and exiting the store as
