NORTHVILLE (WWJ) - A Northville High School teacher has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested.

The teacher is a soccer coach who is facing criminal sexual conduct charges,  according to information from the Oakland Sheriff's Office.

A letter sent to parents said the district was told about the arrest Monday, and the male teacher could be arraigned on the charges in the next few days.

"Upon learning of these serious allegations, the teacher was placed on administrative leave, pending our review of the situation and completion of the criminal process," Superintendent Mary Kay Gallagher said in the letter. "As in any serious matter, our primary concern is for the safety, health and well-being of our students, staff and families, and assure you that we will put support systems in place as necessary or appropriate as information becomes available."

The letter to parents did not mention criminal sexual conduct.

While no details have been released about the teacher's alleged crime, administrators say they don't have any reason to believe the allegations involve any Northville students.

More information is expected to be released after the teacher is formally charged.
