Ohio Woman Arrested In Deadly Detroit Crash Killing Toddler, Leaving 2 Children in Critical Condition

(WWJ) An Ohio woman has been arrested in connection with a crash that claimed the life of a 2-year-old boy in Detroit.

Detroit Police say the suspect, 23, was speeding on Agnes Street when she collided with another vehicle after disobeying a stop sign at the intersection of Field Street around 8:30 pm Thursday.

The suspect had young two adults and three small children in the car with her: a 2-year-old girl, a 2-year-old boy, and a 5-year-old girl, according to police.

The boy died from his injuries at the hospital. The little girls are listed in critical condition.

The driver and passenger of the other car, a man and woman in their forties, are in stable condition.

Police tell WWJ the suspect was fleeing from another accident scene when the fatal crash occurred. She was taken into custody. The suspect, and both of the adults in her car, are listed in temporary serious condition. 

Investigators say a warrant packet will be prepared and sent to the Wayne County Prosecutor’s Office for review.

Police say this is preliminary information and is subject to change as the investigation unfolds.
