Pedestrian Hit By Train In Pontiac

PONTIAC (WWJ) - A pedestrian has been hit and killed by a train in Pontiac. 

According to the Oakland County Sheriff's Office, the crash occurred at 4:12 p.m. Friday at the tracks that cross Woodward Ave., just north of South Boulevard.

Police say a 59-year-old Pontiac man was crossing the railroad tracks when he was struck by an approaching Canadian National Train that was traveling southbound. He was declared dead at the scene. 

The railroad gates were down and working properly at the time of the incident, according to police. 

It's unclear if alcohol played a role in the incident, which remains under investigation.
