State Police Arrest Child Sexual Assault Suspect At Camp Dearborn

MILFORD, Mich. (WWJ) - Michigan State Police have arrested a man accused of sexually assaulting a juvenile at Camp Dearborn.

Police said they were called to the camp at around 10:20 p.m. Thursday about the alleged assault by a man they identified as a "known suspect."

Camp Dearborn, while owned by the Wayne County City of Dearborn, is located about 35 miles away in the village of Milford, in western Oakland County.

Troopers made contact with the man at the camp and, during the initial interview, police said he became combative.

He was arrested for resisting and obstructing a police officer and taken a local police department lockup.

As the MSP Special Investigation Section. continues to investigate the alleged sexual assault, the man has not yet been arraigned on charges. 

Further details, including the age of the alleged victim and the suspect's name, have not yet been released. 

The State Police provide law enforcement services to Camp Dearborn through an agreement with the City of Dearborn.
