Each time, investigators have learned, he used an online dating app to draw in his victim.

Police say the suspect meets his victims on dating apps, then asks to meet at a location. Once there, he approaches the victim on foot and robs them at gunpoint, taking their personal items. After the robbery, police say the suspect makes the victim drive to the nearest ATM and withdraw as much cash as he can. He then makes the victim drive back to the original location, where he jumps out and flees on foot.

Police believe the same man is responsible for the following crimes on the city's west side since December:

  • 19-year-old man robbed 12-19-2019, Eaton and Monica
  • 22-year-old man robbed 1-11-2020, 14900 block of Greenlawn
  • 28-year-old man robbed 2-02-2020, 14900 block of Greenlawn
  • 24-year-old man robbed 2-17-2020, 14900 block of Greenlawn

The suspect is described as a black male with a dark complexion, in his early to mid-20, approximately 160-185 lbs., wearing a mask and a dark-colored hoodie.

Police earlier said the man was also linked to a non-fatal shooting in this city, but later said that incident is not related to this case.
Anyone who can ID this suspect or who has any other relevant information is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department's Tenth Precinct at 313-596-1000. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
