WATERFORD TWP. (WWJ) - The death of a 21-year-old man at a Waterford Township motel is being investigated as a homicide.

Waterford police said they were called to the McGuire's Motel on Telegraph Road, just before 8 p.m. Wednesday, to find the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was treated at the scene and then taken to local hospital where he was pronounced dead.

His name has not been released.

Witnesses have been interviewed and investigators gathered evidence at the scene, police said. While police did not offer details about a possible motive, and no suspects have been described, police said they have reason to believe that this was not a random act.

"Our investigation is ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence and information, interview witnesses and follow-up on all leads," Police Chief Scott Underwood said, in a statement Thursday.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call Det.  Greg Allen at 248-674-6068.
