Police Situation Puts Huron Township Neighborhood On Lockdown

People in the area near Willow Metropark were told to stay inside.

HURON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WWJ) -- A neighborhood in Huron Township was put on high alert Tuesday night as police were working an active scene.

Michigan State Police say their emergency support team and bomb squad were in the area to assist Huron Township police with a situation in the 21400 block of Huron River Drive. Police were asking people in the area near Willow Metropark to stay indoors and others to avoid the area.

The situation began around 5:30 p.m. and extended well into the night, with the situation still active after 11 p.m., but the exact nature of the situation was not 

Police have not released many details about the situation, which reportedly involved a fire and a possible barricaded gunman.

A SWAT team and the MSP bomb squad remained at the scene.
