An employee who witnessed the incident told police that two or three men had been arguing in a perfume store when one of them pulled a handgun, firing two shots at another man.

Everyone involved then fled on foot, police said.

There does not appear to be any injuries at this time.

While no arrests had been made, as of 6:30 p.m. Westland Mayor Bill Wild said there was no indication that it remained an active shooter situation.

"There is no immediate threat," police added, in a statement. "Westland officers were assisted by numerous neighboring agencies in order to search and secure the scene. Officers on scene will continue to investigate."

Multiple people were talking about the incident on social media.

WWJ listener Bill Stineager was on the scene.

"We were gonna go into the mall. We drove up there, we saw at least six cop cars; there's rescue squads," he told WWJ's Stephanie Davis. "People are being escorted out of the mall and we are being told there's an active shooter inside. So we left."
