He said all activities connected to the school have been canceled while the district awaits guidance from the Oakland County Health Department (OCHD).

School officials are working to contact families of all athletes who may have come into contact with the student or were otherwise exposed, according to Archibald.

“The safety of our student and staff is always our highest priority,” the letter reads.

Archibald said they caught the situation quickly.

“The prompt reporting of the incident has allowed school personnel to take steps necessary to reduce the likelihood for further exposure, conduct appropriate cleaning and disinfecting, and work with the OCHD regarding the appropriate course of action,” he wrote.

No information has been released on the condition of the student.
