Suspect In Custody After Fatal Shooting At Lapeer Gas Station

Police believe the shooting stemmed from a dispute in the parking lot.

LAPEER, Mich. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway after a dispute in a gas station parking lot ended with one man dead.

Lapeer police say a 33-year-old man from Lapeer was fatally shot around 7 a.m. at the Clark gas station on South Main Street near Cramton Park. Police believe the shooting stemmed from an argument with a 34-year-old man, also from Lapeer.

Lapeer officers and Michigan State Police troopers attempted life-saving measures at the scene and the victim was taken to Lapeer McLaren Region Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The suspect was taken into custody and authorities are now investigating to determine what may have led to the dispute.

Police have not released the names of the victim or the suspect.
