DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for a man who they say smashed a microwave on the ground following a dispute over an energy drink at a party store on Detroit's east side.

Authorities say two men walked into a party store in the 9900 block of Gratiot Avenue -- just south of Harper Avenue -- around 5:40 p.m. on Thursday, March 12.

One of the men got into a dispute over an energy drink with an employee, and as he stormed out of the store, the man rips a microwave off the counter and throws it on the ground. The two suspects then fled the scene on foot in an unknown direction.

Police are asking for the public's help in identifying and locating the suspect, who is wanted for the malicious destruction on property.

The suspect is described as a black male, wearing a black hat, black jacket, white-washed blue jeans and brown Timberland boots.

Anyone who recognizes the suspect or knows of his whereabouts is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department’s 7th Precinct at 313-596-5740. Calls can also be made anonymously to Crime Stoppers of Michigan at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
