DEARBORN HEIGHTS (WWJ) - Two suspects who were wanted for felonious assault are now facing several more charges after leading a police chase in a U-Haul truck.

The incident unfolded around 6 p.m. Thursday when police in Dearborn Heights began pursuing a U-Haul with two suspects wanted for felonious assault.

Officers requested assistance from Michigan State Police, including their helicopter, as the chase crossed over into Detroit.

Troopers responded to the area, located the U-Haul and attempted a traffic stop. The truck again failed to stop and troopers pursued the vehicle until both occupants eventually fled the vehicle on foot.

Both suspects were then taken into custody.

The suspects were turned over to Dearborn Heights for the felonious assault charges. A warrant request will also be completed by state police for charges of fleeing and eluding, and resisting and obstructing.

The incident remains under investigation.
