DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit Police are searching for a pair of suspects who carjacked a tow truck driver and used the stolen vehicle in a robbery.

Police say the two suspects called a local business around 2:15 a.m. Friday and faked the need for a tow truck. When the driver arrived in the area of Michigan Avenue and Hubble, the suspects carjacked him and took off in his truck, according to police.

The stolen truck was then used in a smash-and-grab at a check cashing business off McNichols Road and Hubble. The store owner, who has been in business for about 10 years, doesn't think the suspects got away with anything -- but they left plenty of damage to the front of the building.

Police are now searching for two suspects, one described as 35-years-old and the other between 20- and 25-years-old.

The 43-year-old truck driver was not injured.

Anyone who has information on the suspects is asked to contact police at 313-267-4600. Tips can also be submitted anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
