Suspicious Man Seen Peering Into Homes In Royal Oak, Birmingham

ROYAL OAK (WWJ) - Police in Royal Oak and Birmingham are telling residents to remain alert after a suspicious person was seen peering into homes in both cities. 

The first instance was reported just before 9 p.m. on Wednesday in the 400 block of Gardenia Avenue, just east of Main Street in Royal Oak. A woman told police she observed an unknown male looking into a neighbor's window. When the woman's husband confronted the suspect, he fledon a bicycle northbound through the cemetery.

Officers immediately set up a perimeter and a K9 unit responded to the scene. The search led northeast of the cemetery before the track was lost.

The suspect was described as an unknown male with a large build, wearing a dark hat and a heavy coat.

Later that evening, a suspect matching the same description was observed looking into windows in Birmingham.

Royal Oak and Birmingham detectives are collaboratively investigating these incidents.
