WHITE LAKE (WWJ) - An Oakland County teacher who allegedly showed up to work drunk is expected to face charges after being arrested at school.

When the 44-year-old arrived at Lakeland High School in White Lake around 8 a.m. Wednesday, other faculty thought he may have been intoxicated and called police.

A Breathalyzer administered at the scene showed the teacher, who drove himself to school, had a blood alcohol content of 0.35 -- more than four times the legal limit.

The teacher, who reportedly had a warrant from last year for operating while intoxicated and driving on a suspended license, was taken into custody at the scene.

School officials sent a letter home to parents, saying the incident did not involve any students.

"A shelter in place was called so that students did not witness the situation," Principal Paul Gmelin said in a statement.

Charges are expected Thursday.
