Thousands Without Power Near University Of Michigan Campus

The outage was caused by an equipment issue.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. (WWJ) -- Nearly 3,000 DTE Energy customers were left in the dark Thursday night due to a power outage near the University of Michigan campus.

DTE is reporting an estimated 2,700 homes and businesses in Ann Arbor lost power around 7:30 p.m. Thursday. 

The outage is affecting the area along Plymouth Road, roughly stretching from the Huron River to the Leslie Park Golf Course, near the northwest edge of campus.

The outage was caused by an equipment issue, according to the DTE outage map.

Power was expected to be restored around 11 p.m. Thursday.
