Police are looking for the driver of a Chevy Camaro

DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are searching for the driver of a Chevy Camaro in connection with a hit-and-run.

According to investigators, Carmelita Hinton (pictured above) was in a wheelchair crossing W. McNichols at Hartwell St. on Detroit's west side at 10:50 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, 2019, when she was hit by a Camaro.

The driver did not stop at the scene, police said, leaving Hinton lying in the roadway. She was severely injured and is still recovering, according to authorities.

Meanwhile, there have been no arrests in the case and no suspects have been named or described.

As the investigation continues, Crime Stoppers is now offering a cash reward of up to $1,000 for the tip that leads to an arrest.
