FRENDALE (WWJ) - There's a big dessert recall in metro Detroit, just in time for the holidays.

Ferndale-based Treat Dreams is recalling a variety of frozen dessert products in pints due to insufficient ingredient labels resulting in undeclared dairy, tree nuts, peanuts, wheat, eggs, and soy allergens. Consumers who are allergic to any of these allergens run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they eat these products, the company said.

All insufficiently labeled, recalled frozen dessert products are packaged in teal-colored, pint-sized paper containers and were sold at Treat Dreams located at 22965 Woodward Ave. in Ferndale, MI, and ar 4160 Cass Ave. in Detroit.

The recall was initiated after a routine site inspection by Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) food and dairy inspectors revealed Treat Dreams was unable to provide labels with allergen and nutritional information for their products, as required under state law.

No illnesses or allergic reactions involving this product have been reported to date.

Customers who purchased these items are asked to return the product to the store for s full refund. Customers with questions can call the Treat Dreams store manager at 248-544-3440.
