Unidentified Man On Mobility Scooter Killed In John R Crash

TROY (WWJ) - Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a car and a mobility scooter in Troy.

According to investigators, a man driving a personal scooter was crossing John R near Isabell, at around 7:30 p.m. Thursday, when he was struck by a Ford Taurus.

He was taken by EMS to Troy Beaumont Hospital where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the Taurus wasn't injured. 

Police said the scooter operator was crossing improperly, and was not within a crosswalk at the time of the incident. The man was not carrying identification, police said, and he had not yet been identified.

Police said drugs or alcohol are not suspected to have been a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
