ST. IGNACE (WWJ) - If you're a golfer, you probably can't wait for Spring. But you don't have to wait -- you can play golf on the ice of Lake Michigan next weekend.

It's the 35th year of the U.P. Ice Golf Scramble and Glow Ball Challenge on the ice where you can see the Mackinac Bridge at St. Ignace.

Lora Brown, Executive Director of the St. Ignace Visitors Bureau, said teams of two come from all over Michigan to play a round of golf in the snow.

"It's an actual course. We have par three, four and five. We create hazards out of snow and ice chunks, things like that. So it's a nine hole scramble and it takes all day," Brown told WWJ's Beth Fisher.

Tickets for the event also include participation in the Glow Ball Challenge, which is held in the darkness.

"You get so many balls to hit out towards a pin and it's at night, so these balls glow. And the people that are closest win prizes," said Brown.

Registration ($40/person or $80/team) is open through Saturday, Feb. 29 at stignace.com.
