SHELBY TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - A coach at Utica Eisenhower High School is under investigation for allegedly sexting one of his players and requesting that the girl reciprocate.

The coach, identifed by the school as Dave Willman, is a contract employee who recently started instructing the freshmen girl's basketball team.

Police would only say that the coach is accused of sending inappropriate texts to a teen girl. However, parents involved in the program say Willman sent nude photos and asked the girl to send him nude photos. The girl showed the texts to her mother, who then notified police.

Parents were notified about the situation Monday night, on the eve of the team's first game. In a letter to parents, Principal Jared McEvoy said the school is working closely with investigators. He declined to discuss details saying it was a "personnel matter."

Willman is not currently in police custody. He has been terminated from his coaching position with the school.

The junior varsity coach will take over coaching duties until a permanent replacement is hired.

The Macomb Area Computer Enforcement team is handling the investigation.

McEvoy encouraged anyone with information to to contact the Macomb County Sheriff’s Department at 586-469-5151. Parents with concerns can contact Utica Community Schools Assistant Superintendent for Human Resources and Transportation, Michael Sturm, at 586-797-1130.
