Van Buren Township Man Charged With Murder Of His Wife

VAN BUREN TWP. (WWJ) - A 63-year-old Wayne County man is jailed, facing charges in the murder of his wife. 

Belinda Oneal, 62, was found dead from a gunshot wound early the morning of Tuesday, Nov. 5, at the couple's home in Van Buren Township.

Police were called to the scene, on Fay Drive, off Belleville Road near Ecorse Road, at around 1:30 a.m. by a man who said his father just called him and told him he killed his wife.

According to investigators, Oneal and her husband, Terrance Oneal were arguing when the fired a single fatal shot, then leaving the scene in his car. 

With the help of Michigan State Police and the Berrien County Sheriff's Office, the husband was located a couple of hours later driving westbound on I-94 in Berrien County. He was arrested without incident. Van Buren Township police were dispatched to the Berrien County jail and transported him back to Van Buren Township.

Wayne County Prosecutors Kim Worthy on Friday charged Terrance Oneal with one count of second degree murder and one count of felony firearm.

A video arraignment is scheduled for Saturday in 34th District Court in Romulus.
