DETROIT (WWJ) - Detroit police are asking for tips to identify a man who robbed a CVS on the city's east side.

At around 10:50 a.m. on Monday, August 23, police say the suspect walked into the pharmacy store, in the 10600 block of Gratiot Ave. at Conner St., while appearing to be talking on the phone.

He walked right up to the register, police said, and demanded money from the cashier. The victim complied, filling a bag with cash, and the suspect fled on foot.

Police aren't sure if the robber was armed, but say he had his hand in his pocket during the robbery, making it appear that he had a gun.

No one was hurt.

The suspect, who was caught on video, is described as a black male with a dark complexion, in his late 30s to early 40s. He was wearing a gray baseball cap, a dark colored hoodie and blue jeans and was carrying a black bag.

It's unclear how much money he got away with.

Anyone who knows the man in the video or who has any information about this crime is asked to call the DPD's Fifth Precinct Investigative Unit at 313-596-5540 or the Crime Stoppers anonymous tip line at 1-800-SPEAK-UP (1-800-773-2587). As always, tipsters may stay 100 percent anonymous, will not be asked their names, to speak to police or to testify in court.
