LIVONIA, Mich. (WWJ) -- Some homes and businesses in western Wayne County have been dealing with an AT&T outage affecting internet and phone services.

The outage, which began Wednesday afternoon, caused the Michigan Secretary of State branch at Six Mile and Farmington Roads in Livonia to close. Offices in the area of Five Mile and Farmington have also reported internet issues, as well as some homes in nearby Plymouth.

In a statement, an AT&T spokesperson says the issue was caused by a cut fiber, which was caused by another company working in the area.

AT&T says it has technicians working in the area to repair the damage and restore service.

Officials did not have an estimated time of restoration.
