DETROIT (WWJ) - Witches will have to hold onto their broomsticks a little tighter this Halloween because it's going to be quite the windy night.

The National Weather Service has issued a Wind Advisory for all of southeast Michigan, in effect from 7 p.m. Thursday until 4 a.m. Friday,

Forecasters say northwest winds of 20 to 25 mph will persist through the night with gusts up to 45 mph. Peak winds are expected around or just before midnight.

Gusty winds will blow around unsecured objects, tree limbs could be blown down and a few power outages may result. Use extra caution when driving, especially if operating a high profile vehicle. Secure outdoor objects.

Unfortunately, wind won't be the only wicked weather factor.

Forecasters say rain will change to snow this evening before tapering off overnight. Accumulations of a dusting up to 2 inches inches are expected, with larger amounts farther north, mainly on elevated and grassy surfaces.

Temperatures will also fall into the lower 30s late this evening, leading to wind chills down in the lower 20s.
