(WWJ) -- Metro Detroit is gearing up for another round of snow, as the National Weather Service issued a Winter Weather Advisory for much of Southeast Michigan on Sunday.

The advisory is in effect from 2-10 p.m. and is expected to bring 2-3 inches of snow to most areas, while parts of the thumb could see up to four inches, according to the NWS.

The snow started falling around 2 p.m., and picked up around 5 p.m. Forecasters expected the heaviest snow to last until 8 or 9 p.m.

The NWS says a brief transition to a snow/rain mix could occur later in the night near the metro Detroit area.

Accumulating snow and poor visibility could make for dangerous road conditions during the evening commute.
