DETROIT (WWJ) - A woman who was caught on video attacking a DDOT bus driver is now in police custody.

Detroit police say the 23-year-old suspect previously identified as Dee Dee turned herself in at the Detroit Detention Center Friday afternoon.

Investigators had been searching for the woman since the attack happened on Saturday, December 29.

According to investigators, the suspect waked up from the rear of a DDOT bus and began throwing what looks like nachos at the driver. As seen in the video released by police, the suspect then grabbed the driver, pulled her out of her seat and wrestled her to the ground — all while the bus continued to travel westbound on Mack Ave.

The bus eventually crashed into an electrical box and a “One Way” sign, coming to a stop in a vacant lot located at the corner of Mack and Bewick.
The suspect was retrained by another passenger, police said but later escaped the bus through a window. She fled foot southbound on Bewick between vacant homes on the north side of the street.

It's unclear what may have prompted the attack. No one else on the bus was injured.

Charges against the suspect are pending.
