COMMERCE TWP., Mich. (WWJ) -- The Oakland County Sheriff's Office says a woman who disappeared last week has been found safe.

42-year-old Alice Elizabeth Phillips' husband reported she went missing after taking an evening walk on Friday, June 21 in the 2800 block of Pinto Drive in the area of Commerce and Union Lake Road.

The sheriff's office said Wednesday night that Phillips had been found safe at a home in Oakland County some time after 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The woman is physically fine and has been taked to a hospital for mental health treatment.

The woman's husband said she often walks at night but this time he became concerned she may harm herself after he found her holding a gun loaded with a single bullet. The man told police he was able to convince her to give up the gun. When she went for a walk, however, he said she did not return and he hadn't heard from her for a while, which led him to contact police.

Phillips' husband said his wife was diagnosed with depression, and that her internet history showed she had been searching for information on how to hang yourself.
