Police Find Fenton Man Dead In Home After Domestic Dispute

June 12, 2018 - 1:55 pm

FENTON (WWJ) - The all clear has been given in Fenton, north of Brighton, where police had surrounded a home in connection with a domestic situation.

Police said a man was found dead by officers who entered the house where a single gunshot had been fired late in the morning.

There was a domestic dispute at the residence Tuesday morning, according to Lt. David Kaiser with Michigan State Police Flint Post.

Kaiser said a female victim fled the home and went to the police department. Police then went to the house and tried to make contact with the suspect -- whom the woman identified as her husband. That's when Kaiser said the husband called his wife, told her that he had a gun, and a shot was heard over the phone.

Late in the morning, Fenton police were trying to make contact with the man before making entry into the house, with MSP assisting. Police told WWJ Newsradio 950 they were not certain if the man was still inside.

Officers entered a short time later to find the man had apparently taken his own life. No one else was hurt.

No further details, including the man's name, were immediately released as an investigation continues.
