DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are searching for two suspects who were involved in a carjacking in Detroit, one of whom was also allegedly involved in a police shooting after an off-duty officer was carjacked at a gas station.

The first suspect is identified as 41-year-old Raymond Stewart. He's described as Hispanic and 5'10" tall with a heavy build.

The second suspect is identified as 31-year-old Keith Wall. He's described only as a white male.

Police say Stewart was driving a Black Honda Pilot on August 13 with a suspect wanted in connection of the carjacking of an off-duty Harper Wood’s police officer. As officers approached the vehicle, police say Stewart fled, resulting in a short pursuit. During the pursuit, the suspect -- 22-year-old Kyle Cherry -- allegedly fired multiple shots at the police cruiser. Officers did not return fire, and the pair fled from the officers.

Cherry was taken into custody a short time after his photo was released to the media. Stewart evaded arrest and remains at large.

Investigators say Stewart is also connected to a carjacking that occurred August 2 in the 2300 block of Gratiot, north of Vernor Highway. Stewart was allegedly accompanied by Wells when they approached two victims, age 51 and 63, who were sitting in white Chevy Yukon in the parking lot of a local business and robbed them at gunpoint, according to police. A third suspect driving a black Ford Fusion pulled in front of the victims' vehicle, never exiting the car.

After the incident, Stewart fled in the victims' vehicle, while Wells entered the black Ford Fusion and fled the location. The third suspect was taken into custody.

Anyone who recognizes Stewart or Walls, or has any information pertaining to these crimes is asked to contact the Detroit Police Department’s Commercial Auto Theft Unit at 313-596-2555, or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-SPEAK-UP.
