Police ID Man Whose Body Was Pulled From Lake Michigan

GRAND HAVEN (WWJ) - Authorities have identified a man whose body was pulled from Lake Michigan. 

In an update Friday, the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety said the victim, 25-year-old Emmanuel Niyomugabo, was a Grand Rapids resident. 

The department said Thursday that they were conducting a death investigation after a man's body was recovered from Grand Haven State Park Beach, northwest of Grand Rapids.

The victim, who was wearing black swimsuit and a black tank top, was spotted by witnesses at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, around 30 feet from shore within the swimming area, north of the pavilion. 

Police said an autopsy is scheduled to determine a cause of death, and additional information will be released once the autopsy is complete.
