A lockdown has since been lifted

May 11, 2018 - 6:31 pm

TROY (WWJ) - Police are investigating what officials call "an active threat of violence" at Troy Beaumont Hospital.

According to Troy police, the threat -- sent via social media -- was domestic in nature, and involved a patient at the hospital, who alerted hospital security.

For the safety of workers and patients, the hospital initiated a lockdown with no one being allowed to enter Troy Beaumont Hospital, which is located on Dequindre Road, south of M-59, for less than an hour. The lockdown was lifted before 6:30 p.m.

Police said they are investigating the threat and are looking for one person. As of 6:30 p.m., police said there had not made any arrests in the case.

Police have not released further details about the threat itself, and no suspect has been described.

No injuries have been reported, and police tell WWJ that traffic near the hospital is not being blocked or diverted at this time.

Stay with WWJ for more on this story as details become available.
