PONTIAC, Mich. (WWJ) -- Charges are pending for a Pontiac man accused of kicking his pregnant wife in the stomach and killing the unborn child.

Oakland County Sheriff investigators say a 19-year-old woman called 9-1-1 Saturday morning to report that her boyfriend was being assaulted by her brother, following an argument between the woman and her 22-year-old boyfriend.

Authorities say the argument was over the woman's cell phone and that the boyfriend had dragged her off a bed by her feet and stomped on her stomach, which presumably led to the attack by the woman's brother.

The woman, six months pregnant, told Deputies at the scene in the 40 block of Leonard Lane that she was experiencing severe stomach pain. Paramedics from Star EMS stabilized the victim and transported her to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital for medical treatment. The unborn child was pronounced dead at the hospital.

The woman's boyfriend fled the scene before authorities arrived, but he was later located at a residence in the 20 block of S. Tasmania Street and taken into custody. He is currently lodged in the Oakland County Jail.
