Project Clean Slate: Have A Felony On Your Record? Get It Removed

June 28, 2018 - 10:00 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - A shot at redemption for small-time criminals trying to make things right and get back to work.

This weekend the city of Detroit is holding "Project Clean Slate," an effort to get non-violent criminal records cleared for those who can't get a job because of their past.

The free event is Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Wayne County Community College District's downtown campus. Layers and law students will be at the fair to help applicants.

If your criminal history is preventing you from achieving your employment goals, this is your chance to get your record clean and join the job stream.

You must be a Detroit resident to participate. A photo ID is required for those taking part, with no more than one felony conviction or two misdemeanors and no traffic offenses such as drunk driving.
