AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - A summer-long project to repair nearly two dozen bridges along I-75 in Oakland County is about to get under way.

The Michigan Department of Transportation says early May is their target to start the project, which includes repairing 21 bridges between South Boulevard and Baldwin Road in Auburn Hills.

The project also includes resurfacing both direction of I-75 between South Boulevard and Giddings Road, as well as repairing the ramps at the Chrysler Drive and M-24 (Lapeer Road) interchanges.

All work on the $21 million investment is expected to be completed in November.

During active construction, two lanes of I-75 will be open in each direction via traffic shifts. Both directions of the freeway may be reduced to a single lane on weeknights and all times on weekends. I-75 ramps and lanes on local roads will be closed at various times to accommodate the bridge work.

Giddings Road and Featherstone Drive will also be closed over I-75 for approximately 30 days with scheduled dates to be determined.
