Public Allowed, In Limited Numbers, To Attend Aretha Franklin Funeral

August 30, 2018 - 8:33 pm

DETROIT (WWJ) - The public is now being invited to attend the funeral of Aretha Franklin -- which before had been private.

At least 1,000 seats will be open for people who want to pay their respects.

The first people to line up outside of Greater Grace Temple in Detroit may have a chance to get in. The family says they must be dressed appropriately. The church says they want to pack the house.

The funeral is going to feature a number of speakers and performers -- such as Bill Clinton, Stevie Wonder, Faith Hill and Ariana Grande.

Aretha Franklin died of pancreatic cancer on Aug. 16. She was 76.
