Reserve Officer Charged In With DUI Death Of Motorcyclist

DETROIT (WWJ) - Wayne County prosecutors have charged a reserve police officer in connection with an accident killing a motorcyclist. 

Saturday night police were responded to the scene of a car and motorcycle accident. Michael Davis, 58, of Detroit was driving his truck in the area of Grand River Avenue and Meyers when he struck the motorcycle driven by 30-year-old Daniel Stark. Stark was pronounced dead at the scene from multiple injuries. Davis was observed slurring his speech and police found a flask in the front cup holder in his truck. He was arrested at the scene.  

Stark has been charged with driving under the influence and reckless driving causing death (both 15 felonies) as well as a charge of being in possession of a firearm while under the influence (a misdemeanor). 

The probable cause conference is scheduled for July 3; the preliminary examination is scheduled for July 10.  Both hearings are before Judge Kenneth King in 36th District Court.
