Gas Station Clerk Stabbed By Suspected Candy Bar Thief

RIVER ROUGE (WWJ) - A gas station clerk in River Rouge was stabbed in a scuffle over an apparent stolen candy bar.

The incident unfolded early Friday morning at the Citgo gas station on West Jefferson Avenue at Elizabeth Street, just south of Memorial Park. 

The suspect walked into the station and was allegedly attempting to steal a candy bar when the clerk stepped in and tried to stop him. A fight ensued, during which the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed the clerk in the leg.

The clerk was rushed to the hospital. His current condition is unknown. 

The suspect was taken into custody.

The incident remains under investigation.
