Roof Collapses Into Michigan Classroom; No Injuries

Fortunately, school was already out for summer

WYOMING, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - A roof has collapsed into a classroom at a school in the Grand Rapids area, less than a week after students were dismissed for summer break.

The collapse occurred at Lee Middle and High School in Wyoming, which is part of the Godfrey-Lee district. No one was inside the school of the time, and no one was injured.

Superintendent Kevin Polston says the partial collapse happened overnight on the west side of the school; a section built nearly a century ago in 1925.

"Please do not enter the building for any reason," reads a note, posted to the district's Facebook page Thursday. "We will send out a notification when it is once again safe to enter the building. Thank you!"

The cause of the collapse is not yet known.

The last day of classes in the Godfrey-Lee district was last Friday.
