Roseville Police Release Utica Man Arrested In Fatal Shooting: Suspect Still At Large

ROSEVILLE (WWJ) -The man Roseville police arrested last night in connection with the fatal shooting of a Detroit teen has been released. 

A statement by Roseville police says they have released the 21-year-old Utica man, who was arrested Wednesday night at his apartment, in connection with the shooting. 

Investigators say the man does have outstanding warrants for his arrest for other, unrelated, charges. 

Police say the suspect is still at large. 

Wednesday evening Roseville police released a statement stating they had arrested Utica man in connection with the fatal shooting of the teen. 

The shooting happened around 10:40 p.m. Tuesday on Pinehurst near Wellworth, in the area of 12 Mile and Utica roads.

Officers responded to the scene after getting a call about shots fired and found a 17-year-old suffering from at least one gunshot wound. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he died. 

The identity of the victim has not been released.

The 21-year-old man from Utica was let go from jail ...  about 24 hours after he was arrested inside his apartment.

Investigators tell us there are warrants out for his arrest, but on unrelated charges. 

The body of the teenage victim was discovered on Pinehurst near 12 Mile Road.

The search for the killer is ongoing.
