WYANDOTTE, Mich. (WWJ) -- Authorities spent Friday night cleaning up after a train and a semi-truck collided Downriver.

The truck was traveling on Pennsylvania Road between Quarry Road west of Jefferson Ave. near the border of Riverview and Wyandotte when its trailer was hit by the engine of the train.

Wyandotte fire chief Jeff Carley said crews were called to the scene around 6:30 p.m. and noticed there were flammable materials aboard the train, so the Downriver HAZMAT Team was called to the scene.

Carley said crews are still working on cleaning up the materials and the wreckage, and expect the clean-up to carry on into the late hours Friday.

No injuries were reported. Both lanes on Pennsylvania remained closed west of Jefferson past 11:30 p.m.

According to tipsters on social media, the truck allegedly tried crossing the tracks while red lights were flashing at the crossing.
