Sheriff: Man Found Fatally Shot Along St. Clair County Road

February 11, 2019 - 11:58 am

FORT GRATIOT (WWJ) - A homicide investigation is underway after a man was found shot to death just north of Port Huron.

The victim -- identified 28-year-old Kevin Anderson, Jr. of Port Huron -- was discovered by local residents at around 8 am. Sunday, in the 4000 block of Keewahdin Road, near the State Road intersection in Fort Gratiot Township.

"He was located on the side of the road there near the ditch area," said St. Clair County Sheriff Tim Donnellon. At first investigators thought the man may have been hit by a car, however: "It appears like he was shot, either right on the roadway or in the ditch and then left there."

There is currently no description of the suspect or a suspect vehicle, but a witness reports seeing a car making a u-turn in the area around 4 a.m. on Sunday.

Donnellon said there are still a lot of questions to be answered as an investigation continues.

"We don't know if the person was tossed out of the car there or if they'd got out of the car and then he was shot outside of the car," Donnellon said, and a motive for the killing is also unknown.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday afternoon.

Anyone with information about this crime should call the St. Clair County Sheriff's Detective Haley Bonner at 810987-1728.
