Hazardous Weather Outlook: Windy With A Chance Of Storms

September 21, 2018 - 9:15 am

DETROIT (WWJ) - The weather could get wet and wild across southeast Michigan on Friday.

Forecasters say conditions will turn windy today as a strong cold front moves through the region. Southwest wind gusts of 35 to 40 mph are expected, with winds turning westerly this afternoon.

There's also a slight chance of thunderstorms and heavier showers during the early afternoon hours. Forecasters say the storms could produce isolated wind gusts greater than 45 mph.

The high winds could result in hazardous driving conditions, especially for high profile vehicles, so use extra caution if you're out on the roads. Unsecured light outdoor objects will be blown around, and scattered tree damage and power outages are possible.

Here's a look at the forecast from the WWJ Newsradio weather team:

Friday -- A shower or thunderstorm in the area, windy and very warm. High 83. Low 51.

Saturday -- Some sun, cooler and less humid. High 65. Low 49.

Sunday -- Plenty of sunshine. High 70. Low 57.

Monday -- Clouds to increase throughout the day. High 73. Low 66.

Tuesday -- Cloudy, a couple of showers or a thunderstorm around. High 73. Low 56.
