(WWJ) March is Multiple Sclerosis Awareness Month.

WWJ's Dr. Deanna Lites reports yoga is helping some patients with MS, a chronic condition that affects the central nervous system and can lead to changes in everything from vision to balance and speech.

It's condition with symptoms such as fatigue, pain, bladder and bowel problems, sexual dysfunction, movement and coordination difficulties, vision and cognition changes, and emotional/mental health problems.

Yoga instructor Mindy Eisenberg, whose mother had a propressive form of MS, knows first hand some of the challenges people with multiple sclerosis can face.

To help those with MS live life to the fullest, Eisenberg offers specialized Yoga Moves MS classes throughout the metro Detroit area.

"We do the traditional poses, but we also adapt them for people's bodies," she explained. "(Using) chairs and props and walls and straps to help people."

The classes have two students to one instructor to make sure the student's individual needs are met.
