MARYSVILLE, Mich. (WWJ) - A St. Clair County man has been charged in the beating death of his elderly father.

Jonathan Francis Stahl of Marysville was arraigned in 72nd District Court Friday on one count of first degree premeditated murder in the slaying of 75-year-old Allan Stahl.

Investigators said the 40-year-old defendant called 911 Wednesday morning and told dispatchers that he had killed his father with a golf club.

Officers arrived at the home, on Lighthouse Dr. near Bunce Ave. in Marysville, to find what Police Chief Tom Konik described as "a terrible scene."

Jonathan Stahl was arrested without incident.

The Medical Examiner conducted an autopsy, finding the victim's cause of death to be blunt force trauma. No motive for the killing has been disclosed by authorities.

Marysville Public Safety was assisted by officers from the Port Huron Major Crimes Unit and the Michigan State Police Mobile Forensics Lab in the investigation.

The last murder in the city, just south of Port Huron, was in 2016.
