July 13, 2018 - 6:30 am

NORTHVILLE (WWJ) - A man accused of stabbing a woman and then holding police at bay for hours overnight has been taken into custody.

The incident began around 10 p.m. Thursday when police responded to a domestic situation at the Northridge Apartments off 7 Mile Road between Main Street and Haggerty Road.

A 52-year-old Monroe man allegedly stabbed a woman and then barricaded himself inside the apartment, throwing objects out of the windows as the time passed. It took police roughly five hours to convince the man to surrender. He was taken into custody around 3 a.m. Friday.

The woman, in her 40s, was taken to a hospital. Her current condition is unknown.

Other circumstances, including the nature of the relationship and what led to the incident, remain unclear.

An investigation is ongoing.
